Her interest, experience and expertise in agile and life-long learning is reflected in her broad consultancy career. She is a celebrated presenter and author who works extensively with leaders, teachers and organisations in the areas of education, leadership, strategic planning, curriculum design, Gifted and Talented education, contemporary learning and assessment practices. Over the years, Pam has worked with numerous communities to support the establishment of new schools, campuses and facilities. Pam has lectured at Deakin University and conducted programs for Deakin University, Victorian Department of Education and Training and the Catholic Education Offices of Melbourne and Ballarat. When I began school in 1953, I decided that teaching was my destiny. The eldest of three girls, I loved reading and learning. I was the first member of her family to graduate from university in 1971. From the age of 14, I worked weekends and holidays at Myer Chadstone, often in the book department that was managed by my mother, Joyce. There was joy in this work, being paid to know about books, how marvelous. In my second year of university, disaster struck one wet night in July, coming home with a friend from an engagement party, our car was struck and i was catapulted through the windscreen. Five hundred stitches later and unable to read clearly, I took leave from university and began to heal. I found work with a Federal Government program, teaching migrants to speak English. After returning to Monash University and finishing my Arts degree and Dip Ed, I began my teaching career at a boys Technical School in the Western District of Victoria.
